About

This Blog:

Aside from my YouTube channel, this blog is the online location where my free educational and informative videos and their corresponding worksheets (which are geared to teach elementary age to Jr. high age children) can be found.

I have created these videos to teach students the basics (among other important topics) in 1/4 the time than what is considered the "norm" so that students have the benefit of using the gift of time to help them find and fulfill what they feel called to do in the world, for the world.

Valuable Time:

As my description in the side bar confesses ... I'm a homeschooling dad. There are many reasons why my wife and I chose to homeschool and the reasons always seem to change or evolve but if there's one thing I've come to realize, especially being a school teacher myself, I've realized that so much time is wasted in school.

Most subjects should not have to take 9 months to complete!

We have a world in great need of help and yet we are having the world's future "saviors" spend 85% of their time (if not, more) sitting at desks or at home learning academics instead of spending time learning what's happening around them and recognizing and developing the talents and abilities they were sent with on this earth to help heal the growing damage.

Learning the basics is important and very valuable indeed but it's a crime to have it take up that much of a student's time.

My Purpose:

Combining the above mentioned notions along with my love for teaching I've created a YouTube channel and this blog to help children master the basics in short amounts of time and have created it in hopes that students will use their extra time to go out and make a difference in the world.

  2. John - really appreciate your work and efforts here. What materials did you find helpful in learning the abacus? Also did you work on any visualization with your kids (mental math)?

Also I am considering home schooling my kids (don't find many fathers that have done it) - curious if you have any words of wisdom around the decision making process? Thanks

  4. Hi John-

    Thanks for the great work!

Can you perform the abacus addition/subtraction calculation in your head as quickly as some of the UCMAS kids?

Can any of the kids you've taught perform the calculations quickly?

    Regards,
    Brit
